Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Edition Looks Like A Villain’s Car Of Choice

Has Mercedes-AMG remembered its Black Series ventures with a special edition of the new-generation GT two-door coupe? Well, we wish it did, but that would be a no, as what we have here are some very cool renderings.
 

We found them on @ildar_project’s social media, who calls this build the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Edition. But is it based on the old Mercedes-AMG GT R? That would also be a no, as it is part of the series’ latest iteration. The murdered-out machine features extremely wide wheel arches, side skirt attachments, a new hood, a very aggressive diffuser, a large wing that sits on the rear deck, additional tweaks all around, and a set of very large wheels.
 
The tailpipes were also part of the virtual makeover, and from what we can see, it has fewer inches between the road and its belly. Therefore, this Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Edition also features an adjustable air suspension. We would love to tell you about its new bucket seats, black suede, and perhaps leather upholstery, extra carbon fiber trim, and maybe other details surrounding the interior, yet it hasn’t opened up to the camera.
 

We would also love to talk about the powertrain, but the rendering artist hasn’t mentioned it. Nevertheless, such a thing deserves only the best, and that would mean the plug-in hybrid powertrain of the GT 63 S E Performance Coupe, which features a 4.0L biturbo V8 and an electric motor that work together to develop a total of 1,047 lb-ft (1,420 Nm) of torque and 805 bhp (601 kW/816 ps). This model hits 60 mph (97 kph) in 2.7 seconds and has an MSRP of $202,200 for the 2026 model year stateside.
 
Do you know what other version of the new-age Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe has an identical starting price? That would be the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+, which hits 60 mph in 3.1 seconds aided by its 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque and 603 hp (450 kW/612 ps) V8. The regular GT 63 uses a V8 with 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) and 577 hp (430 kW/585 ps), and is equally fast to the Pro, while starting at $181,350.
 

Further down the line, we can find another V8 model, namely the GT 55, which has 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque to play with and 469 hp (350 kW/476 ps). Pricing for this model (MSRP) starts at $138,150. The base version of the series is called the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 Coupe, and features a hybridized 2.0L four-pot that kicks out 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque and 416 horsepower (310 kW/422 ps). The most affordable version of the GT Coupe has an MSRP of $106,500.
