Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Is Inspired By A Fake F1 Team

Formula One is in Florida this weekend for the Miami GP. While most current F1 teams are showcasing special liveries and helmets for one of the American legs of the premiere motorsports event, another team is in attendance, the APXGP, and it arrives in the Sunshine State with a special and extremely rare Mercedes-AMG GT 63 in tow.

We won’t blame you if you haven’t heard of APXGP. It is, after all, a fictional team for the upcoming F1 movie, starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. The special AMG GT 63 was created to promote and represent Mercedes-Benz’s contribution to the film. This won’t be the first time that the APXGP team will be in attendance on a Grand Prix weekend, but this will be the first AMG four-door sports car to be inspired by the fake F1 team.

Wearing The Fictional F1 Team’s Special Livery
Taking inspiration from the fictional F1 team, the AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition comes with custom paint with hand-applied designs and Race Gold accents. The AMG-branded carbon ceramic brakes are painted in black, hiding behind the matte Race Gold 21-inch AMG forged cross-spoke wheels. The special edition also comes with Carbon Fiber and Night packages, featuring black chrome elements on the grille, AMG crest, and the three-pointed Mercedes emblem.

The gold accents continue in the cabin as accents on the Nappa leather upholstery, the carbon fiber trims, and the microfiber steering wheel. The floor mats are also decorated with a gold APXGP logo, while a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” plaque highlights the rarity and exclusivity of this special GT 63. Additional features include a 15-speaker Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, AMG’s telemetry and performance data logging, and a front axle lift system.

Hitting Theaters Worldwide In June
The AMG GT 63’s handcrafted 4.0L V8 biturbo engine remains untouched in this special edition model, still producing 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It’s equipped with 4MATIC+ or AMG Performance’s version of a fully variable all-wheel-drive system. You’ll also find AMG’s tuning magic in this car, including the brand’s active ride control, active roll stabilization, rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics.

Mercedes-AMG didn’t disclose the pricing for the AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition, but it will be extremely limited with only 52 units to be produced globally. Every purchase comes with a custom, edition-specific indoor car cover with tear-resistant synthetic outer and flannel lining.

The F1 movie will hit theaters on June 25 worldwide, but will only be shown on North American silver screens two days later on June 27. It will be directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick.
