Rain-soaked streets. Neon glow. SLS Black Series at 7-Eleven because presence makes any stop feel first class. Slurpee in hand, carbon in motion.

Some say modern-day supercars have lost their vibe over their older equivalents, and that may be true up to a point. However, nobody can deny the fact that the latest are extremely powerful and very fast, and can humiliate their forefathers in all kinds of challenges.

Truth be told, not everyone dreams of an extremely punchy blue-blooded beast, as a good chunk of the gearhead crowd could easily live with something that packs as much grunt as a high-end, modern-day mega hatch, as long as it ticks some boxes. But does the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series do?

If you said no, you should throw away your petrolhead license, as this model remains dreamy. The three-pointed star brand launched it in early 2010, with production taking place at the Sindelfingen factory in Germany, offering it in two body styles. The coupe came with the famous gullwing doors and the soft-top convertible had traditional doors instead.

The lineup eventually grew to include a whole bunch of other versions, including a battery-electric flavor and the Black Series. The latter came out at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, with its market launch scheduled for the following year, benefitting from a whole bunch of visual and mechanical upgrades meant to improve its credentials at the racetrack.

In an acceleration test, the peeps at Car&Driver achieved an impressive 3.2 seconds from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph), almost half a second faster than advertised. Engineers tweaked the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 to produce 622 brake horsepower (631 ps/464 kW) at 7,400 rpm and 468 pound-feet (635 Nm) of torque at 5,500 rpm. This car was rear-wheel drive and featured a dual-clutch automatic transmission with seven forward gears.

It has been quite a while since we last wrote about the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series. However, the model is back under the limelight courtesy of a modified copy that we recently encountered on social media. The pictured example was made famous by Wheels Boutique, smiling for the camera and bragging about some of its modifications.

Can you tell what it has that others don’t? Well, the yellow headlights, for one, and the fresh alloys. The new wheels are much larger in size compared to the OEM offering. They have a five-spoke design, a lot of concavity, and a white look, which works perfectly with the German supercar’s exterior paint finish that’s sprinkled with some black bits and bobs.

This Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is bedroom poster material, and while some may not agree with the fresh wheels and the yellow tint on the headlights, it can easily revert back to its original state if its owner wanted to. Do you like it more dressed like this or in stock condition?
