Adria, a manufacturer of motorhomes, campervans and caravans from Slovenia, recently revealed its flagship product – the Adria Supersonic. The motorhome is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter featuring an all-new body and a roomy interior inspired by yacht design.
The Supersonic is an A-Class motorhome, also known as “integrated”, which is a term used for vehicles featuring a custom body mounted on an existing LCV ladder-frame structure. The exterior design is characterized by simple lines, with a huge panoramic windshield, bus-like mirrors, Hella Bi-LED headlights integrated within the grille, vertical sides with black graphics on the silver metallic shade, as well as a stylish rear end featuring LED taillights and a diffuser. The design looks similar to the smaller Adria Sonic, but this one is a wholly different model based on the Fiat Ducato instead of the more premium Mercedes Sprinter.
The Supersonic range includes the two-axle 780 SL and 780 DC variants measuring 7.8 m (25.6 feet long) and weighing 4.5 tonnes (9,920 pounds), plus the larger three-axle 890 LL and 890 LC measuring 8.9 m (29.2 feet) long and weighing 5.5 tonnes (12,125 pounds).
The entry-level Supersonic 780 SL is big enough to sleep four adults, coming with twin single beds, an electrically operated overcab double bed, a WC with a sink, a standing shower, a kitchen (with a worktop, sink, 177-litre fridge, oven, coffee machine, etc.) and an L-shaped sofa in the lounge/dining area. The 780 DC has a similar layout but comes with a double bed in the rear private room and twin sofas in the lounge behind the cockpit.
The Supersonic 890 LL and 890 LC bring enlarged WC and shower rooms, plus additional storage compartments benefiting from the extra length. The difference between them is the twin single bed or double bed layout at the back, since they are coming with the same over-cab double bed and the large lounge/dining area at the front. The company is offering plenty of personalization options for the upholstery.
The dashboard is shared with the Sprinter, including the MBUX infotainment, but the rotating seats for the driver and the front passenger are completely new, designed by Aguti. Other features include the double floor for insulation and storage, the large 150-litre fresh water tank, the ambient lighting throughout the cabin, a rear-view camera, and remote control functions using a smartphone application.
The Supersonic is fitted with the 2.0-liter diesel engine from the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which produces 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS). While this output doesn’t sound like much for such a heavyweight vehicle, the mill has proven its durability and strength in the Mercedes LCV range. Power is sent to the rear axle through the 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox.
