Mercedes EQE will have two AMG versions: the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 and Mercedes-AMG EQE 53. Both will be launched in 2022.

Mercedes announced, in the fall of 2020, that it will electrify the AMG sports sub-brand together with Maybach and G-Class. In September 2021, Mercedes presented, at the Munich Motor Show, the first electric AMG model: the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53.

Also in Munich, Mercedes revealed the EQE business class electric sedan. The Mercedes EQE will also receive treatment from the AMG division and mercedesblog.com exclusively announces that there will be two versions of the AMG EQE: the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 and Mercedes-AMG EQE 53. The 43 version will appear in mid-2022, while the 53 will be released in late 2022. In the first quarter of 2022, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 will be launched.

Certainly, both 43 and 53 versions will have two motors, one on each axle, and the Torque shifting function, which allows optimal torque distribution between the front and rear axle using the CPC (Central Powertrain Controller). The system decides which is the best solution. The CPC distributes the torque of the two engines depending on the chosen driving mode.

In the case of the AMG models with conventional propulsion, the current AMG E 63 has a power similar to the former generation W 222 AMG S 63, 612 hp, obtained from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

Therefore, we expect the AMG EQS 53 to have an output similar to that of the new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53. It comes with two engines that develop 484 kW (658 HP) and 950 Nm or 560 kW (761 HP) and 1020 Nm with the AMG Dynamic Plus package. The 43 version will probably develop around 500 HP.

In both the AMG EQS 53 and the AMG EQE 53 lineups, Mercedes has left room for a possible 63 version that could compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid that delivers 1020 HP.

The calendar for the new Mercedes EQ models, Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 included:
first quarter 2022 > Mercedes-AMG EQS 53
mid-2022 > Mercedes EQE
mid-2022 > Mercedes-AMG EQE 43
late 2022 > Mercedes-AMG EQE 53
late 2022 > Mercedes EQS SUV
