The Land Down Under is getting the updated Vito, eVito, V-Class and EQV minivans with new specification, additional safety features, and fresh styling upgrades as leaders of the 2024 model year range.
The Mercedes-Benz fleet of mid-size vans and ‘people movers’ has been around since 2015 unchanged, and almost a decade later, they’re finally getting reworked with a major facelift to include a raft of comfort, convenience, and technology updates plus a massive safety technology upgrade. The wide-ranging light commercial family includes medium- and long-wheelbase models, crew cab options, different specification levels, and even an all-electric eVito van with a long-wheelbase.
According to the German automaker, commercial operators and families alike will reap the benefits of the “significant” updates across the range, including Vito/eVito Tourer, and V-Class with four trims that include the zero-emissions EQV. Mercedes-Benz also promises that all models have gone under scrutiny and come out enhanced, from the base model – the new Mercedes-Benz Vito 114 MWB Van to the luxury transfer company-darling, the V-Class people mover.
The new standard features across the entire range include the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system, now offered on a 10.25-inch central touchscreen featuring voice commands via the Hey Mercedes’ prompt. The driver also gets a second 5.5-inch full-color display screen inside the instrument cluster. All models also get a multifunction steering wheel with the dreaded touch-sensitive controls – so this might not sound as much of an upgrade as the other features.
The latter are a Keyless Start function to remotely start and stop the engine through the key fob, an electronic parking brake, and wireless device connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of safety, the range gets standard Active Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, and tire pressure monitoring across the board. All models (except for the all-electric eVito and EQV 300) are powered by the same turbo diesel engines as before, all connected to the company’s nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
In terms of specifics, the all-new-for-2024 Mercedes-Benz Vito 114 MWB Van gets all the features above plus some, followed by the Vito 116 MWB/LWB Van or Crew Cab, which additionally gets Multibeam LED headlights with High Beam Assist Plus, satellite navigation, surround-view camera, and even a puddle light, among other stuff. Next are the Vito 119 LWB Van and Crew Cab, which pack 17-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, LED strip for the Van’s cargo area, plus complimentary non-metallic and metallic paint choices.
The all-electric Mercedes-Benz eVito LWB Van now has pre-entry climate control – for the first time allowing the driver to remotely operate the vehicle’s cabin temperature. Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer and eVito Tourer get three rows and seat up to eight people – they pack the same updates as the vans and additionally have new features like digital radio, wireless charging, electric sliding doors and tailgate, electrically foldable side mirrors, and roof rails.
The Vito Tourer gets a 161 hp turbo diesel engine, just like the Vito 116, but the eVito Tourer has an all-electric motor producing 201 hp. In contrast, the eVito is powered by a much smaller 114-hp electric motor. Moving on to the luxurious V-Class, Mercedes-Benz offers the new V 300 Exclusive model, the V 250 Avantgarde, and the V 300 AMG. The fresh variant has a seven-seat configuration, rear tray tables with illumination, a bespoke five-louver grille surrounded by chrome and an LED band, and all seats get appointed in Nappa leather, plus optional second-row luxury seats.
