When it comes to electric luxury performance, Mercedes-Benz has big plans for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV. This all-electric sedan’s exterior design combines contemporary aerodynamic features with traditional AMG appearance to emphasize its high-performance capabilities and eco-consciousness. The exterior design aspects that make this vehicle unique are examined in detail here. The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV’s front fascia is a modern take on the legendary AMG Panamericana grille. This grille has long represented AMG’s roots in motorsport thanks to its wide, aggressive profile and vertical slats. The electric powertrain on the GT relies less on cooling than a traditional internal combustion engine, therefore the grille serves more as aesthetic than practicality. Nonetheless, it is essential in establishing the car’s character.
Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Door EV Revealed – What’s Make It Different ?!
Mercedes-AMG has decided the GT 4-Door Coupe needs a second generation. However, if you haven’t heard the big news yet, it will be a battery-electric vehicle, and its size will place it against the likes of the Porsche Taycan.
Spy photographers have already snapped the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV (name unconfirmed) doing its thing in the open, and as you can expect, the tester was wrapped in thick camouflage and fitted with fake plastic cladding.
Still, beneath the camouflage, it appears to have sweptback headlamps that are expected to flank a Panamericana-like grille. Nevertheless, since the new GT 4-Door does not have an internal combustion behind it, this component will be fully enclosed.
Flush-mounted door handles are also on deck, thus giving the profile a sleeker look. And speaking of the sides, it also has a sloping roofline. Muscular shoulders were also visible, and you may want to ignore those weird taillamps, as they’re provisional. The same goes for the oddly shaped rear bumper and diffuser combo.
As a note to self and those who haven’t seen the spy shots yet, the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV appears to be a four-door sedan rather than a five-door liftback. Beneath the skin lies the AMG.EA (AMG Electric Architecture), a construction dedicated to all-quiet models, as its name implies. This model is believed to be the first of its kind to utilize this platform, though others will follow in its footsteps as the three-pointed star brand further ventures into the EV game.
It’s expected with a high-performance battery pack, axial-flux motor tech, and a rear-axle steering system, with the latest having been observed by our spy photographers during the car’s testing. Are you curious about how this model looks beneath all that fake camouflage? So are we, and we apparently have to wait a bit before seeing this vehicle in all its glory. Reports claim it might be due sometime next year, so chances are it will launch as a 2026 model.
As the testing advances, we will see more production-ready prototypes, some of which will have significantly less camouflage on their bodies and real taillights, bumpers, and so on. That’s when the rendering crowd can start peeling off its fake skin and revealing what it will look like. Until then, we’re left with the vehicle’s first spy shots that date to this month (August 2024) and the occasional unrealistic digital illustration.
Speaking of the latter, the pictured model was the work of Q Cars, and as you can clearly see, it doesn’t seem to look anything like the actual car. We think it’s quite ugly, especially for a Mercedes, and we’d get the Porsche Taycan in a heartbeat if we had to choose between the two. But do you like it?
