It’s pretty safe to admit that Mercedes-Benz’s sub-brand and series of battery electric vehicles introduced back in 2016 with the Generation EQ concept vehicle is not very successful in terms of sales.
Almost a decade later, Mercedes-EQ isn’t dominating the lineup even though it has more than enough sidekicks – EQA, EQB, EQC, EQE sedan and SUV, EQS sedan and SUV, plus the EQT and EQV minivans. However, even Mercedes-Benz seems to admit the flaws – which include less technology and performance than some of its rivals, but especially a very awkward styling, and decided to ditch the EQ-only naming strategy.
As such, the latest all-electric models launched in the near past or near future include the G580 off-road SUV, the newest generation CLA, and the upcoming GLC, all now labeled ‘with EQ Technology.’ But what if that small rebranding isn’t enough, and Mercedes needs a paradigm shift? No worries, a member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators dwelling across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI thought about that possibility and came up with a solution.
More precisely, Giorgi Tedoradze, the Georgia-based industrial designer better known as tedoradze.giorgi on social media, has a quick CGI idea regarding a new Mercedes EV – the unofficial, hypothetical Mercedes-Benz F-Class design project. It’s a recurring idea for the pixel master, and just recently, we got a new set of renderings along with the intended target – the Porsche Taycan executive EV sedan.
The proposed 2026 Mercedes-Benz F-Class is a coupe-sedan type, and it’s very close to regular Mercedes models – the author even combined the AMG Panamericana-style grille with the EQ Technology to make it more enticing. The front styling is enjoyable, the profile is simple and sporty with small lateral windows and massive turbine-style alloy wheels, plus the rakish back side is dominated by a simple LED taillight strip.
So, what do you think? Suppose this Mercedes-Benz F-Class with EQ Technology were real. Could it stand a chance against the Porsche Taycan, which has been improved tremendously in the recent past and can even rise to the occasion of the Tesla Model S Plaid with help from the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT variant? Or is it merely wishful thinking, and Mercedes should focus on the more affordable EVs first, then take on the executive segment by storm?
Take into account that Mercedes-AMG is preparing a new super-sedan to serve as the worthy successor of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. The new model will arrive on the brand’s fresh AMG.EA platform, which is supposedly ready to enable ‘fun-to-drive electric vehicles’ and, together with the SUV sibling, will sport YASA’s new axial-flux motors – ultra-light e-motors that are coming with up to 480 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque per unit.
