The priciest version of the new-gen Mercedes SL is also the sportiest Maybach ever. It’s called the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, was officially unveiled one year ago, and is now ready to go on sale in the United States of America.

You are probably wondering how much it costs, and the answer is $224,900, excluding the $1,150 destination and delivery charge. By comparison, the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance, with its 805 bhp, starts at $207,150. The regular SL 63, which offers 577 bhp, has an MSRP of $187,150. The lesser SL 55 offers 469 bhp and kicks off at $, and the base SL 43, with its 2.0L four-pot, rated at 416 bhp, starts at $11,950 in our market.

Despite using the same ‘680’ suffix as the Maybach S-Class, it does not feature a V12 engine. In fact, Mercedes-Maybach decided to give it the ubiquitous 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8, which produces 577 brake horsepower (585 ps/430 kW) at 5,500-6,500 rpm and 590 pound-feet (800 Nm) of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. Thus, it is just as powerful as the AMG SL 63, which takes 3.5 seconds to reach 60 mph (97 kph). The new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is estimated to take around 4.0 seconds from 0-60 mph, before tapping out at 161 mph (259 kph).

The German luxury car marque offers the roadster with two so-called “specially curated design concepts.” The first one is called the White Ambience and mixes the Obsidian Black Metallic and Manufaktur’s Moonlight White Magno. The Red Ambience is the second one and comes with Obsidian Black Metallic and Manufaktur’s Garnet Red Metallic. Additional paint finishes from Manufaktur are also available upon request, and the three-pointed auto brand says that the model offers plenty of customization options. More highlights include the exclusive 21-inch wheels, an illuminated front grille, the Maybach logo on the taillights, chrome-accented elements on the outside, an optional PixelPaint Mercedes-Maybach pattern on the hood, chrome elements, rose-gold accents, and so on.

On the inside, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series features Nappa leather upholstery on the seats, center console, and door panels, an electrically-adjustable center display with specific start-up animations and themes, a digital instrument cluster, a signature steering wheel, backlit door sills that greet users, stainless steel pedals, etc. A luggage shelf behind the front seats, featuring the embossed Maybach emblem and a floral design, is also on deck. Mercedes also mentions the Airscarf system, a surround view system, a 360-degree camera system, the Driver Assistance Package, Magic Vision Control, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Mercedes hasn’t said exactly when the first-ever Maybach SL will touch down at dealers in the U.S., stating only that it will be available in the second half of the year.
