You just missed your chance to buy a very nice, family-friendly SUV with V8 firepower. This 2014 Mercedes-Benz GL 550 just changed hands, and it was a real steal.
Offered at no reserve on Cars&Bids, the high-rider in question went for $13,400 at an online auction that ended on February 3, 2025. It is worth noting that this model usually sells for over $35,000, so we cannot help but envy the new owner, especially since the MSRP of a new one was $89,000 for the 2024 model year.
Mind you, it’s not all perfect, as the Carfax report shows some damage sustained three years ago. However, it was nothing serious, as the vehicle is said to have hit a mailbox, resulting in the repair of the rear bumper and left taillight. Other known flaws are the wear on the driver’s seat, chips and scratches on the outside, and curb rash on the wheels.
This 2014 Mercedes-Benz GL (facelifted iteration became the GLS) has a clean Alabama title and is presented in Lunar Blue Metallic with a Black cockpit. It has around 125,500 miles (~202,000 km) on the odo and lots of gear, including 21-inch AMG wheels, AMG exterior styling, bi-xenon headlamps, a power tailgate, a panoramic roof, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats with massaging function, heated second-row seats, power-folding third-row seats, and three-zone climate control.
Besides these features, the listing also reveals that the family-friendly SUV has keyless go, a navigation system, a Harman Kardon audio, wood trim, heated and cooled cup holders, adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping, active blind spot assist, active parking assist, air suspension, many others. Recent service history reveals the usual maintenance and then some, and it’s worth noting that the vehicle only sold with a single key.
As you already know, this iteration of the Mercedes-Benz GLS came with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The output was originally rated at 429 horsepower, and the mill pumped out 516 pound-foot (700 Nm) of torque. The ride took a very respectable 5.3 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 kph), and the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system is on deck for all-weather capability.
The seller bought this Mercedes-Benz GLS 550 in January 2021, and the car had a loan on it, so the sale proceeds went toward paying it off. According to the guy, this GLS has an extended warranty, which is transferrable, and it was included with the sale for extra peace of mind. So, do you think the winning bidder landed a great deal? We do, as it’s not every day that such a ride sells for pennies on the dollar. You can still access the online auction here and check out this machine in more photos.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he just bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “One who’s our friend is fond of us one who’s fond of us isn’t necessarily our friend.” by Geoffrey F.
