Sit back and watch this hour long video show you how to make a good C63 AMG look perfect.
Mercedes C63 AMG – Good as NEW
It’s wild to think that the newest W204 C63 AMG is now 10 years old. In fact, I could hear my joints pop by typing that sentence. While many of them have now been used, raced, and wrecked, some of them still are very well cared for.
Any detailer will tell you that the most difficult cars to work with are darker in color. They also happen to be the most rewarding too. 197U is the Mercedes paint designation for Obsidian Black, the hue over this W204 coupe. You have to pay especially close attention to see that it’s a metallic paint. And that’s not a good thing when the paint had micro blemishes all over. Thats why this car is getting more than just a paint correction.
In the video we see things that happen to every day cars. Light scratches, rock chips, even scuffs on the rocker panels. As much as we try and care for cars, things happen. And beyond saving the paint, this process calls for touchup paint. Which is then made flat with the original paint through a cutting pad, and then buffed with the rest of the paint to be nearly invisible again. You can see the C63 really starting to look like new again.
Your normal paint buffing doesn’t even scratch the surface of this detail job. Because the main goal for most correction jobs is to significantly improve the paint. However in this instance, the owner of this AMG is seeking perfection. Oxidization around things like the emblems is carefully removed, polished and brought back to a new gleam. Even the brake rotors are detailed, treated and coated.
Is it a bit too much? Not really. After all the detailing, the next step is paint protection film. Not only do you want to keep dirt from getting trapped under the film, but you also want it to stick! So all the tight and difficult areas to clean are where the film will be holding on tight. What that tells us is that if you’re buying a new car, do the film before it even leaves the lot.
