One of the trims that have spawned in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class’ amazing line of cars is the Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan. This car presents a nice entry point to the high-performance AMG badge.

The AMG A35 may be far from the luxuries of the S-Class but it offers a trendy and tech-riddled design with top-notch engine performance to boot.

Exterior
The AMG A35 possesses a savvy and sporty low-hung styling with a sleek finish. It also has five twin-spoke wheels that further highlight its character. A good balance of chrome and carbon accentuates its key elements, too, including the front grille, air inlets, fins, front lip, diffuser, and exhaust ports. It’s such a shame though that it does not benefit from AMG’s signature Panamericana front grille. Other than that, it’s all good.

Interior
Inside the latest AMG A35 are perforated leather seats, 64-color ambient lighting system, aluminum trims in key areas, and two LCD monitors. The tech in its cabin can be managed with the integrated MBUX infotainment system. The interior is where Merc cars usually topple their direct competitors from the likes of BMW and Audi.

Power
Popping up the hood of the AMG A35 reveals a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing up to 302 hp at 5,800 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. The power is distributed via a seven-speed DCT automatic to an all-wheel-drive system. This launches the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds while its max speed is capped at 155 mph.

The Future of the Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan
The A-Class is now in its fourth generation and is a quarter-of-a-century old already. Dwindling sales have forced its maker to put the range on the chopping block as it gears towards electrification and more focus is poured to its electric counterpart, the EQA. Unfortunately, this AMG A35 Sedan is one of the certain casualties.

Although it’s sad to hear such news because the A-Class is home to both hatchback and compact sedan variants, Mercedes has to be flexible amid the shift of its major markets towards electrification and the change in buyers’ preferences.
