Mercedes-Benz took the first month of 2026 by storm with the late January introduction of the mid-cycle refresh for the S-Class limousine. They didn’t introduce the Maybach variant at the same time, even though they brought with it the V12-powered Guard model that can take a bullet for its owner.

That was just the first novelty of the year, the tip of the iceberg that will include a massive product blitz for 2026: no less than 16 new models are coming out this year, and 2027 could bring to market even more. In fact, Mercedes-Benz is in such a hurry that it’ll bring to life no less than seven models in the next three months.
One of them was the Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 SUV and Coupe, which signaled the return of the inline-six engine to the performance lineup. Additional introductions, says the rumor mill, will surely include the Maybach S-Class, as well as a new GLS complete with its Maybach variant. Speaking of the flagship crossover SUV, it turns out that the parallel universes of vehicular CGI have an idea of how to make it more enticing.

That’s all courtesy of a member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators, of course. More precisely, Ildar, the virtual artist better known as “ildar_project” on social media, usually plays with tuned vehicles, but this time around, he’s quite restrained with this unofficial, hypothetical design project.
As such, the pixel master is giving us the 2026 or 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic with the new headlights and taillights that obviously include star-shaped LED daylight running signature lights. Additionally, the luxury behemoth tries to convince the digital audience that it’s better than a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga, Ferrari Purosangue, or Lamborghini Urus SE, or at least more elegant.

As such, the CGI expert has clad the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 in ritzy attire and gave it the ‘Gold Edition’ moniker due to all the chrome trim pieces now having the same tint as the precious metal. The SUV also has a matching Satin Sand hue with a contrasting Black top portion, and the dual-tone attire is seconded by wire-turbine-style aftermarket alloy wheels dressed in black with gold accents from Vissol Wheels.
This isn’t the first time we have seen a Gold Edition on a Mercedes because the author crafted a Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Gold Edition prior to the GLS, and its resounding success probably made them confident enough to also try the look on another Mercedes. We’ve also embedded the ritzy cabriolet for comparison purposes.
So, what do you think? Should Mercedes start making such outlandish versions for their Mercedes-Maybach models, or is something like this merely wishful thinking?
