2024 Mercedes G-Class Facelifted And Its Timeless Design

It’s been a few months since we last saw the facelifted Mercedes G-Class, but work continues on the updated model as CarScoops reader Dániel Balogh spied a prototype undergoing testing.
 

While the pictures were taken at a distance, the SUV appears to be conventionally powered. That remains to be seen, but the prototype eschews the EQG’s trademark blue camouflage as well as its squared off ‘tire carrier’.
 
Details are hard to make out, but previous pictures have shown the model will have a lightly revised front bumper with updated intakes. The rest of the design largely carries over, but we can expect a new rear bumper with an integrated rearview camera. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find a revised grille and more advanced driver assistance systems.
 

Some of the biggest changes could occur in the cabin as an EQG prototype was spied with a new steering wheel, a revamped center console, a revised center stack, and updated switchgear.
 
The changes will continue under the hood as the G500 is likely dead following the introduction of a Final Edition in June. It was billed as a “fitting parting gift” that carried a €196,350 price tag.
 
While the G500 will be missed, V8 power should live on in the Mercedes-AMG G63 as it received a Grand Edition instead of a Final Edition. Grand Editions are typically reserved for the retirement of the current generation vehicle but, in the case of the G63, they apparently decided to mark the impending facelift.
