Hot on the heels of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLB being spied testing for the very first time, the flagship GLB 35 variant has been spotted by our spy photographers.

The first thing that may strike you about this Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 prototype is just how little camouflage it has. In fact, the only camo that is visible is plastered across the front fascia and a little stripe across the tailgate and around the taillights. This suggests that the German automaker has made progress with the development of the model and that it won’t look all that different from the outgoing GLB 35.

While the camouflage does a good job at hiding some of the alterations made to the front fascia, we can see that the new GLB 35 will sport a distinctive new grille with a revised mesh design. The automaker’s designers have also crafted a new front bumper for the sporty SUV and just like lesser variants of the facelifted model, revised headlights will also catch the eye.

Very few modifications will be made to the rear of the GLB 35 with the exception of tweaked LED taillights with new graphics.

Slotted beneath the skin of the updated model will be the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder as the outgoing model. This engine is currently rated at 302 hp between 5,800 and 6,100 rpm while also delivering 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm. These figures are identical to the A35 AMG and will likely go unchanged.

A number of interior changes are anticipated in not only the GLB 35 but also lesser GLB models. These will include an updated center console without the current model’s touchpad, a new steering wheel, and updated infotainment and connectivity features.

The facelifted 2023 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 should be unveiled early next year.
