Following an unveiling in February, Mercedes-AMG now confirms that the 2021 GLE 63 S Coupe has a starting price of $116,000 (plus a $1,050 destination charge). The first examples of the luxurious performance crossover arrive at dealers in the US in late 2020.

The 2021 GLE 63 S Coupe packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with Mercedes’ EQ Boost starter-generator. The powertrain makes 603 horsepower (450 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine runs through a nine-speed automatic gearbox to an all-wheel-drive system with an electronically controlled locking rear differential.

The new GLE 63 S Coupe reaches 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited at 174 mph (280 kph).

The performance crossover rides on an air suspension with adaptive damping. For an even smoother experience, the GLE 63 S Coupe has active roll stabilization that reduces body roll during cornering and smooths things out when going over bumps.

Inside, the GLE 63 S Coupe has AMG seats with Nappa leather upholstery, and the driver grips a three-spoke steering wheel with aluminum paddles behind it. The crossover uses the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system that runs on a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen media display. Occupants can enjoy their music through a Burmester surround sound system. The safety tech includes active parking assist, blind-spot assist, and active lane-keeping assist.
