I made a concept design by modifying the Mercedes sports coupe GT model, which I liked very much. I would love to have this cool performance-oriented car.
The New Mercedes GT 73 coupe – More ambitious in 2026
Unlike Audi Sport, which doesn’t have exclusive models that aren’t part of the regular Audi GmbH lineup, BMW and Mercedes have allowed a bit more creative freedom to their M GmbH and Mercedes-AMG GmbH performance divisions.
BMW went the wrong way with the XM being an extremely slow-selling, very controversial plug-in crossover SUV that doesn’t do justice to the BMW M1 supercar and its legacy. On the other hand, Mercedes-AMG is a bit more experienced and offers exclusive perks like the One, SL-Class, GT-Class, and GT 4-Door Coupe.
The Mercedes-AMG One is the flagship hypercar – a plug-in hybrid featuring Formula One-inspired technology and the looks of a prototype ready for the latest 24 Hours of Le Mans or Daytona endurance races. The SL and GT, meanwhile, are a little tamer – though not by much.
For example, the new R232 Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach SL are the seventh generation of the SL-Class but are now also an exclusive product of the high-end AMG and Maybach brands. It’s twinned with the second-generation GT and serves as the direct replacement for the GT Roadster. The GT four-door model, meanwhile, has more to do with the E-Class rather than the cabriolet and coupe.
Back to the Mercedes-AMG GT, the second generation arrived at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California and now has a 2+2 cabin setup, just like the rivaling Porsche 911, for example. It also comes with GT 43, GT 55, GT 63, GT 63 Pro, and GT 63 S E Performance models. The entry-level model has a 2.0-liter mild hybrid, 416 hp, and starts at $106k, but you can successively upgrade to 469 hp (V8), 577, 603, and then to 805 electrified ponies.
The latter model – Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, with the handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 assisted by a rear electric motor, is the pinnacle of German engineering and naturally costs no less than $196k in America. But what if the US public wants more from Mercedes-AMG, especially considering that General Motors somehow managed to make the C8 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 sport an ICE-only twin-turbo V8 with no less than 1,064 horsepower for ‘just’ $175k?
No worries, if you don’t mind living in an alternate world, a member of the imaginative realm of digital car content creators dwelling across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI has a solution. More precisely, Evrim Ozgun, a Turkish virtual automotive designer, decided to make sure we all know a little more about his vision for the unknown, unannounced 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 73 supercar.
This unofficial, hypothetical design project comes with a complete redesign of the front and rear – the fake Mercedes-AMG GT 73 has a new radiator grille, new front and rear bumpers, different headlights, and taillights, plus other wheels, among others. It’s also equipped with some outrageous design features – a T-shaped element on the hood plus a high rear wing that’s made completely out of exposed carbon fiber.
