The VLE combines the best of both worlds: Limousine-like ride and handling with MPV-style versatility. It offers up to 8 seats, new 800-volt technology, high performance charging, more than 700 km WLTP¹ range and provides infotainment that has never been so immersive.

World premiere of the all-new electric VLE – Recording of the livestream from March 10, 2026

Mercedes-Benz introduces the all-new VLE, the model that looks like an MPV but offers limousine-like comfort. The German automaker calls it “the grand limousine.” The EV is built on the new Van Architecture, sits on a new 800-volt architecture, features the MB.OS, and boasts a range of up to 435 miles (700 kilometers).

The “grand limousine” has been developed from scratch and is unlike any model ever present in the brand’s portfolio. The German automaker redefines modern luxury with the debut of the VLE, which is basically a mix of the best of both worlds: it is as refined as a sedan, while bringing all the versatility of the practical MPVs. However, despite the MPV shape, it comes with a drag coefficient of just 0.25.

That is thanks to its streamlined silhouette with a stretched roofline that flows into the rounded rear. It is a design that we finally get to see after months of spy shots that showed prototypes testing on public roads, all camouflaged from bumper to bumper.

The model can be specced with an illuminated front grille, a seamless light strip linking the signature headlights, with star-shaped daytime running lights with DIGITAL LIGHT, and a standing star on the hood or an integrated central star, depending on the trim. At the opposite end, arc-shaped taillights are integrated into the aerodynamic spoiler lip.

Seat ballet on board the new VLE
The Mercedes-Benz VLE can seat up to eight people in three rows of seats, featuring either the remote “seat ballet” or the manual Roll & Go seats. The manually operated seats, which sport four integrated wheels, can be moved back and forth with ease, locked in position, or simply removed for more space on board.

In the meantime, the power seats can expand further, controlled with the help of the Mercedes-Benz App, through the “Remote Variable Rear Space” feature, or through the head unit. Mercedes claims that it is almost like choreographing a ballet.

Four pre-defined configurations are available: Baggage, Executive, People & Baggage, and Standard. While Baggage mode moves all seats forward, as far as possible to maximize cargo space, the Executive does the exact opposite, pushing the seats as far back as possible for maximum legroom in the first rear seating row.

Customers can also check the Grand Comfort Seat option box for more comfort on board the new VLE. The feature brings an additional pillow, wireless charging, lumbar support, massage function, and calf support.

Those sitting in the back get the MBUX, which brings them a panoramic screen, measuring 31.3 inches and featuring 8k resolution, split-screen tech, and an eight-megapixel camera. The screen deploys from the headliner above the front seats and retracts when not in use.

The VLE responds like a friend
Furthermore, the vehicle gets the MB.OS (Mercedes-Benz Operating System) and the MBUX Virtual Assistant with multi-agent generative AI, capable of understanding complex conversations and responding like a friend.

The MBUX Superscreen integrates three displays, united under a large glass surface: a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-inch central display, and a 14-inch screen for the front passenger. The head-up display with augmented navigation puts a virtual 23.1-inch image floating at approximately 13 feet in front of the vehicle, providing the relevant driving and navigation data.

The Burmester 3D Surround Sound System, with a total of 22 loudspeakers and Dolby Atmos technology, turns the cabin into a rolling concert hall.

The Mercedes-Benz VLE is equipped with the AIRMATIC air suspension with 1.5 inches of level control and the seven-degree rear-axle steering for easy maneuvering. The MPV comes with an incredible turning circle of just 35.75 feet, comparable with the new compact Mercedes-Benz CLA.

A battery pack with a usable capacity of 115 kWh with a new NMC battery technology stores enough energy for up to 435 miles (700 kilometers) and can be recharged for up to 221 miles (355 kilometers) within just 15 minutes.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz VLE gets the Distance Assist DISTRONIC and the MB.DRIVE ASSIST with semi-autonomous steering on motorways. It can also change lanes on its own when the driver engages the turn signal. Eleven airbags and the PRE-SAFE system keep occupants safe in case of a crash.

On both sides, Mercedes installed the HANDS-FREE Access doors, which slide backward and forward, like those of the V-Class, and sport a fully retractable window. At the back, the automaker came up with a separately opening rear window, which simplifies loading and unloading. Future owners can also go for the optional electric EASY-PACK tailgate.

Available with 4MATIC all-wheel drive
The all-new VLE is offered in two flavors: the VLE 300 and the VLE 400 4MATIC. The base version comes with a single motor and 272 horsepower (276 metric horsepower), while the range-topping VLE 400 gets a dual-motor powertrain and 409 horsepower (415 metric horsepower) in an all-wheel-drive setup. The VLE 400 4MATIC can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 6.4 seconds.

There is no information about pricing on the American market, but reports show it will start at around $79,000 in Europe, which translates to $91,755.
