Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series Get Your Laps In

How much better can your day at the race track be than with the AMG GT Track Series?

Your hands are wrapped around the bolstered grip of the yoke-style steering wheel. Eyes focused on the race track marshal at your one o’clock. The V8 in front of you is blasting everything in the vicinity with the percussiveness of an artillery shell. Racing harness? Cinched. Brake pedal? Firm. Glance again at the temperature of your fluids in your AMG GT Track Series. Check. With a thumbs up from the marshal, you put your helmet visor down, click into first gear and thunder out of pit lane.

That’s the experience that most racing drivers have, but it doesn’t have to be that exclusive. In 2023, AMG produced a race-ready GT called the Track Series. It’s not a full-on racer like the AMG GT3, but instead, think of it as the most serious version of the C190 that you can possibly get.

The racing bits are both obvious, but also a bit covert according to Exotic Car Trader. The aero parts on the outside look good, and on quick inspection appear mostly subtle. Its inside that has the biggest changes. The cage is obvious, but the revised seating position and revised steering rack are evidence of a very serious machine.

That lower, rearward position means you peek over a Bosch Motorsport dashboard. No more dials here, you’re in a real race car. More evidence? How about a brake bias dial from AP or the ability to adjust sway bars on the fly. Yeah, setup changes while the car is between turns.

Under the hood, the Track Series gets even more serious. Engine output rises to 734 horsepower to help with lap times. You’ll notice that a lot of added scoops and cowls are now in place to help aid in cooling the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8. After all, AMG knows this will be on a track where it’ll be pushed to the max after every apex. More interesting though is the transmission. Out goes the usual 7-speed automatic and in its place is a Hewland HLS sequential gearbox. No more torque converter or multi-clutch soft-for-the-road gearbox here.

AMG also thought about what happens before every apex, too. AP brakes are on tap to quickly and accurately reach your desired v-min. With four pistons up front and a race-ready floating rotor design, you won’t have to worry about overheating these. But you will have to worry about how you’re going to get one.

Only 55 exist, making it one of the more rare AMG GT specials. So you’ll need to get suited up and ready for grid when you find one.
