A model that does not get much love these days is the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. That’s not because it’s not good, but rather because certain deep-pocketed car enthusiasts would rather have the slightly smaller and more affordable GLE 63 instead.
They both share the same platform and powertrain and although the GLE 63 is lighter, it is also significantly faster than the GLS 63. The brand’s ubiquitous V8 motor sits under the hood. The 4.0L engine develops 627 pound-foot (850 Nm) of torque and 603 horsepower (612 ps/450 kW) in the latest iteration GLS 63 and GLE 63. The latter brags about taking 3.7s from 0 to 60 mph (97 kph), and the former is four-tenths of a second slower.
Mind you, we did not write this story to compare the two models, as that one has been done several times. Instead, what caught our eye is the new alloy set equipping the pictured Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. The alloys came from Forgiato’s portfolio, and they’re a slant-lip proposal that measures 24 inches in diameter. The size does not make the SUV look odd, but the shiny finish does, as it has almost tapped into its bold side.
Nevertheless, due to the almost murdered-out stance, the high-rider has managed to keep its cool character. It wears a black paint finish on the outside, and most chrome elements have been blacked out, save for a few touches here and there, like the large three-pointed star logo that bedecks the Panamericana grille with vertical slats, the side skirts, door handles and, obviously, the new aftermarket wheels with their intricate pattern.
According to the social media post we came across, which can be found at the bottom of this story, the said Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 features a paint protection film with a lifetime warranty. The sporty SUV also benefits from a ceramic coating that was also applied to the new alloys. We have no idea of whether this car is looking for a new owner on the second-hand market or if it is a simple marketing tool, though we lean on the latter.
Has this story made you crave your own Mercedes-AMG GLS 63? We won’t judge if it did, yet your pockets must be quite deep to crave your thirst for this model. The reason is the MSRP, which puts the GLS 63 out of reach for most petrolheads, though we wouldn’t imagine a real enthusiast spending that much money on a large premium SUV. The 2025 GLS 63 begins at $149,500, whereas the smaller and more agile GLE 63 comes from $130,800 before destination and dealer fees.
So, do you think this is an interesting look, or would you rather keep your AMG GLS in standard form? Beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, so let us know if you like the pictured car.
