Most modern crossovers and SUVs never venture off the beaten path, so if a spacious interior is all you need, then why not aim higher and look at something like say, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter? This particular example, which is in the Tourer specification, comes from Carlex Design and has a few exterior updates, together with a more luxurious cockpit.

Named the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Urban Edition by Carlex Design, the MPV, which can be had in different exterior paint finishes, is equipped with front bumper and side skirt attachments, grille mesh set and Carlex decals. Optionally, customers can go for the 18-inch wheels, shod in 255/55 Continental VanContact tires, with original tire pressure sensors and a repair kit for when things go south.

Opening the door reveals a plush interior, dressed in fine Nappa leather upholstery, with embossed motifs and special inserts, Alcantara headlining, sports steering wheel and custom gauges. Up front, the bougie sports seats have integrated headrests and room for a proper racing harness, you know, in case you want to take your big van to the track.

A normal driver’s seat plus a two-person bench are available, though. The rear passenger compartment has more conservative-looking individual seats, a table, or two as an option, and overhead ambient LED lights. Each vehicle features a ‘Limited Edition’ plaque with an individual number.

For the Sprinter Urban Package, aimed at the Tourer version of the vehicle, comprising of the body kit, reupholstered driver and passenger seats, four individual seats in the rear passenger compartment, composite floor with rails and carpet, Alcantara headlining, table and plaque, Carlex is asking €18,995 (equal to $23,185) in Germany, excluding tax. The re-worked, leather-wrapped steering wheel, custom gauges, two more seats in the Basic or a folding bench in the Extended version, overhead ambient lights, and others are options.
