New Mercedes E-Class EQ Will It Look Anything Like This?

Mercedes-Benz tried a bit too hard to make the EQE stand out from the ICE-powered E-Class, to the point where not many people would say that it is a good-looking ride. Far from it, actually, as the electric business sedan hasn’t won any beauty pageants and it never will.

New Mercedes EQE

The three-pointed star brand is well aware of this aspect, so it is trying to do things right for the EQE’s successor, which won’t only look better but will also use a different name: the E-Class EQ. Naturally, the E-Class moniker ties it to the traditional executive model, whereas the EQ is pretty much Mercedes’ slang for electric.

As you may recall, the Mercedes E-Class with EQ Technology (official name) was first brought into discussion officially at the beginning of the year. Back then, Mercedes confirmed that this model would replace the slow-selling EQE and would be marketed alongside its ICE-powered sibling. As for the biggest news of them all, the design, it will be significantly improved from the EQE.

Quite recently, our spy photographers managed to snap a tester while it was doing its thing in the open. The car in question had a lot of fake plastic cladding on its body, as well as the usual trippy vinyl stickers. However, even with all the camouflage present, we could still see that it has a more traditional approach in terms of the visuals, and that is definitely a win.

Following in the footsteps of the smaller C-Class EQ, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class with EQ Technology seems to have a flatter belt line. It also looks a bit longer, and the grille should be on the bold side of things, likely mirroring the ones of the electric C-Class and GLC. The star-studded headlights and taillights should also be a thing on this upcoming model.

The interior is said to mirror that of the GLC, so we could be looking at a massive MBUX Hyperscreen occupying most of the upper dashboard panel, flanked by a pair of round air vents. If that’s the case, we also expect a generous center console with a floating style design for improved storage, as well as leather upholstery and other premium materials on the range-topping trim levels.

What we are trying to say is that the upcoming model likely won’t have many things in common with this one, which was recently rendered by Evren Ozgun Spy Sketch and shared on YouTube. So, why did we choose to share this CGI-infused project with you if it is on the unrealistic side of things? Because we think it looks good inside and out, and it is an interesting design exercise that is bound to make you wonder what truly lies beneath the fake skin of the Mercedes E-Class EQ.
