2022 Mercedes-Benz Citan Priced From Under €20,000 In Germany

Mercedes-Benz has started taking orders for the brand new Citan in Germany, with first deliveries expected by the end of October.
 

Prices of the Citan its home market start from €19,348 (net price excluding VAT) for the Panel Van, and from €26,418 (including 19% VAT) for the Tourer. In the future, Mercedes will offer additional long-wheelbase variants of their compact van including a Mixto version.
 
The Mercedes-Benz Citan premiered a few weeks ago, sharing its underpinnings with the Renault Kangoo, and like all vans, it is available in both commercial and Tourer passenger variants. The market for this kind of vehicle is booming in Europe, with strong competition from other automaker alliances. Rival models include the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Opel Combo, and Toyota ProAce City siblings, the Fiat Doblo, and the new VW Caddy which is mechanically related to the upcoming Ford Tourneo Connect.
 

Back to the Citan, the engine range includes both diesel and petrol options, while a fully electric variant is scheduled for 2022. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel produces 74 hp (55 kW / 75 PS) in the Citan 108 CDI, 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS) in the Citan 110 CDI, and 114 hp (85 kW / 116 PS) in the Citan 112 CDI. On the other hand, the 1.3-liter petrol produces 101 hp (75 kW / 102 ps) in the Citan 110 and 129 hp (96 kW / 131 PS) in the Citan 113.
 
Both the Panel Van and the Tourer are available in two trim levels – Base and Pro. The cheapest option is the Citan Panel Van 110 “Base” starting from €19,348 ($22,865) without VAT, or from €23,024 ($27,209) including 19% VAT. The equivalent passenger version with the same petrol engine, the Citan Tourer 110 “Base” starts from €26,481 ($31,295) including VAT.
 

As for the more generously equipped models, the Citan Panel Van 110 “Pro” starts from €21,200 ($25,048) without VAT, and the Citan Tourer 110 “Pro” starts from €28,610 ($33,803) including VAT. Those can be distinguished by body-colored door handles and sliding door strip covers. Standard equipment in the Pro trim level also includes LED illumination for the interior, Mercedes-Benz audio system, air-condition, front electric windows, height-adjustable driver’s seat, and plastic flooring on the cargo area (Panel Van).
 
Optional equipment includes an MBUX infotainment with a 7-inch touchscreen display, touch-control buttons on the steering wheel, DAB, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity, priced at €857 ($1,013) or €1,630 ($1,926) if you also want Navigation. In terms of safety, the Active Safety Package (Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Speed Limit Assist, and Blind Spot Assist) will cost you €1,428 ($1,688), the semi-autonomous Parking Package €1,177 ($1,392) while the LED headlights are an extra €988 ($1,168).
 

Styling-wise, the optional Interior Design Package with €305 ($361) adds high-gloss black trim on the dashboard, plus chrome around the air vents, on the interior door handles, and around the speakers.
 
Last but not least, on the practical side of things, a second sliding door on the Citan Panel Van will cost you €401 ($474) but, thankfully for rear passengers, it’s standard on the Citan Tourer. The Panel Van can also be specced with an optional folding partition between the cab and the cargo area, for €143 ($169). All aforementioned prices of the optional equipment include 19% VAT.
