Mercedes G-Class Evo The Idea Was To Create A Road Version Of A G-Class Race Car

G-Class Evo. The idea was to create a road version of a G-Class race car, blending the retro and classic looks of the model and its modified variants with the legendary 190E EVO II, which was already built around the road-legal racing car concept. It looks a bit ridiculous and exaggerated, but that’s exactly what I like about it. In a world full of overdone G-Classes with multiple flashy add-ons, fake vents and carbon everywhere, I wanted something raw and savage, yet cleaner as a whole.

The figure of 2,159,100 units isn’t something to trifle with from a premium German automaker, and the company thrived in regions like the United States, Germany, the Gulf states, and South America. “In 2025, we kicked off the biggest product and tech launch program at Mercedes-Benz with cutting-edge electric-drive systems and intelligent software,” said Ola Kallenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

However, their highlights don’t necessarily have to do with the all-new CLA series or the GLC with EQ Technology. Instead, they emphasized Mercedes-AMG and its seven percent rise, aiming to continue the trend with the introduction of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, based on the high-performance electric architecture (AMG.EA), as well as the rising fortunes of one classic model: the mighty G-Class.

As it turns out, the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class off-road icon jumped 23% to achieve its best-ever sales of 49,700 units, and even the “electric G-Class has substantially contributed to this sales performance, attracting an expanded customer base.” That’s all fine and dandy, because Mercedes-Benz confirms that “customers can also look forward to new models of the G-Class that will expand the product offering.”

Naturally, when hearing that, many fans will think about the upcoming ‘baby’ G-Class that’s been reported on countless occasions by the rumor mill. However, at least one member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators would like to see something different across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI.

More precisely, Iung Anissa, an unofficial automotive designer tucked under the label ‘anissadothings’ on social media, wants to take a CGI swing at the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with a pronounced retro feeling. So, their latest unofficial, hypothetical design project involves the G-Class EVO. Let’s see if we can explain that a bit more.

“The idea was to create a road version of a G-Class race car, blending the retro and classic looks of the model and its modified variants with the legendary 190E EVO II, which was already built around the road-legal racing car concept,” says the pixel master. As such, it’s no wonder that it looks “a bit ridiculous and exaggerated,” but in “a world full of overdone G-Classes with multiple flashy add-ons, fake vents and carbon everywhere, I wanted something raw and savage, yet cleaner as a whole.”

The wishful thinking Mercedes-Benz G-Class EVO has the same color as the original Mercedes EVO II and rides on a set of classic Rotiform VCE alloy wheels, plus inside, there are four Recaro bucket seats. All in all, it clearly looks ready to take on the 1979 edition of the Paris-Dakar Rally, right?
