Even though the Brabus badge holds a great deal of weight throughout the car industry, it’s pretty hard to argue in favor of spending roughly twice as much on a used sports sedan that only has 138 extra HP compared to a brand new AMG variant.

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG C63 S saloon costs upwards of €84,854 ($102,700) in Germany. This used 2019 Brabus 650, sold by Brabus themselves, will set you back €162,284 ($196,400).

It has 4,350 miles (7,000 km) on its 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine, which produces 641 HP (650 PS) and 604 lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque, instead of the stock 503 HP (510 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm).

This translates into faster acceleration times, but not by much. Zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) for example takes 3.7 seconds, meaning an improvement of just 0.3 seconds. The top speed meanwhile has been raised compared to the C 63 S, where it now reads 200 mph (320 km/h).

Sure enough, this is a fully loaded example, boasting AMG performance seats and steering wheel, panoramic sliding roof, ambience lighting, cooled and heated seats, head-up display, AMG Night package, Mirror package and plenty more. Then come the Brabus parts, such as the carbon fiber lip, skirt add-ons, fender inserts, rear diffuser, spoiler, bumper add-ons, plus all the badges.

Inside, you get the tuner’s aluminum pedal pads (with footrest), shift paddles, door lock pins and floor mats. Last but not least, the 5-spoke 20-inch wheels with yellow calipers.

This is a serious machine, and it definitely looks the part too. But is it worth nearly twice as much as a stock C 63 S? You decide.
