While many other specialty cars get put away, it’s tough to find a low mileage SLS AMG.
We already know the SLS AMG is a special car. But what we didn’t realize was how much people drive the darn things. Apparently the “delivery mileage” kind of car collectors have avoided these completely. Instead, people have no problem clicking off the miles.
We found an SLS example over on AutoBlog, who touted this particular one as being low miles. But we realized 9,000 miles is actually quite a lot for the collector car market. A quick glance over at Bring-A-Trailer shows that a majority of Gullwings have a decent amount of mileage. This seems to cross over between the coupe and the convertible models.
Could you blame the owners? When it made its debut, the SLS had the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever produced. Being the first AMG built vehicle from the ground-up was pretty special, too. Gorgone were traditional Mercedes subtleties, and in its place was honored its past, but brandished a sledgehammer when it came to performance. It also is an incredible vehicle to make you feel special. Even just by parking it and opening the doors.
Despite some of the cars on BAT being upwards of 10,000 miles, a majority of the cars are in the quad-digit range. One of them even has 47,000 miles. We already know all of them were fun. Peek a bit harder and you will be able to find cars in the triple digits. What’s wild is they don’t command a significantly higher price than ones driven just a bit more. Meanwhile, the Black Series SLS is going bonkers. Won’t be long till one cracks a million dollars. We’re not kidding.
But good news if you have an SLS. Putting miles on it apparently does no harm. So we highly encourage you to get out there and drive the darn thing. Not only will it be good for your soul, but its good for other enthusiasts to see an SLS in use. In fact, fire it up, and take it to a cars and coffee. You never know what kind of friends you’ll meet.
