INKAS® Armored Mercedes Maybach GLS600 | BR6
INKAS, a world-renowned leader in vehicle armoring, just sent us a preview of its new project involving the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. As exemplified in the company’s recent works with vehicles bearing the three-pointed star emblem, expect nothing short in terms of luxury, security, comfort, and reliability from this build.
Armoring Level
According to the document from INKAS, the vehicle is highlighted by its discreet CEN 1063 BR6 level of body armoring that can take shots from 7.62mm high-power rifle ammo. It is also capable of protecting its occupants from two DM51 hand grenades or similarly powered explosives detonated simultaneously under the floor.
INKAS makes sure that any potential attacker can find it hard to find exploits in the design of the Maybach GLS by integrating reinforced bumpers, engine bay plus ECM and battery armoring, fire suppression system, radiator protection, fuel tank protection, overlap protection, and exhaust pipe protection to it. The level of its defense can be amplified with heavy-duty wheels wrapped in run-flat tires.
Luxury and Security Level
Being a Maybach variant of the flagship SUV of Mercedes, INKAS merely retains the auto’s ultra-opulent interior while adding some of its flavor to it. Some tactical add-ons on the Maybach GLS 600 include a CCTV system, a 360-degree view with night vision cam, GPS, siren, strobe lights, and a PA system with an optional intercom.
Additionally, the SUV has a roof escape hatch, providing an easy way out for its occupants trapped during emergency situations. Likewise, it features more advanced door assist operation, more rigid hinges, door travel retainers, oxygen filtration, and extra functionality for the windows.
Those who want to put in more cosmetic enhancements to their armored ride can opt-in for the Blackout Package of the tuner, too.
Powertrain
There are no improvements within the power level of the Maybach GLS 600. However, it should be noted that its almighty 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is enough to deliver a whopping 550 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque.
All that output is distributed via a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission to the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
Pricing
INKAS has no mention about the pricing of its armored spin to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. But then again, the standard price of the unit already starts at $175,000.
