Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S Has Issued A Recall In The United States

Mercedes-AMG has issued a recall for the 2020 CLA 45 in the United States, as a small batch of cars may have incorrect spark plugs.

Due to the thermal overload, it is likely that the parts could develop an increased mechanical wear, causing them to detach within the combustion chamber, thus leading to engine damage and stalling, which would increase the risk of a crash. In some cases, drivers could see the ‘check engine’ light in the instrument cluster.

Based on their internal investigation conducted last year, after they discovered the potential installation of spark plugs with different geometries in the 2.0-liter turbo-four engines powering the 2020 CLA 45, the recall population was determined by Mercedes. This concerns seven cars, built between July 5, 2019, and December 18, 2019, all of which are estimated to have the defect. The vehicles outside of the recall population meet production specifications, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

In order to fix the issue, authorized technicianns will replace the spark plugs on the affected cars. All work will be performed free of charge, and since the CLA 45s are covered by the factory warranty, Mercedes will not reimburse owners who may have already repaired their rides. The auto firm informed its dealers about the recall last week, and owners will be contacted on April 27. The Mercedes-Benz USA customer service can be reached at 1-800-367-6372, and the NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline can be contacted at 1-888-327-4236.
