Mercedes-Benz is about to pull the plug on the current GLB, though it won’t be left without a spacious premium compact crossover, as the second-generation model is right around the corner and will debut in no time.

Caught testing yet again in the open, it looks pretty much like an evolution of its predecessor. It sports very similar proportions, has a completely new front fascia that appears to look way softer than the current one, and a back end that is home to a pair of vertical taillights, likely linked by a thin light strip that spans across the entire width of the tailgate. The profile has remained similar, though keep in mind that everything is new.
Yes, that includes the construction, as the new 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB will utilize the same MMA platform as the latest CLA. Reports indicate that hybrid assistance will be a thing, likely combining a 1.5L mill with a 1.3 kWh battery pack, and an eight-speed automatic transmission with dual clutch and an integrated motor. Some say that the range-topping AMG will also benefit from hybrid assistance, and if you forgot, the next GLB will also be offered with electric power.

Unfortunately, the three-pointed star brand chose to keep the technical details close to its chest for now. However, some major outlets expect this model to utilize an 85 kWh battery pack, which should feed electrons to at least two electric powertrains. The most affordable 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB EQ, which is the model scooped here, might feature a rear-mounted unit making almost 270 horsepower. An AWD dual-motor version might offer close to 350 horsepower combined.
The interior of the all-new 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB is no longer a surprise for anyone, as the automaker chose to officially show it in a set of very revealing teasers earlier this month that also revealed part of the crossover’s testing phases. If you thought the current Mercedes GLB has too many screens, the new one will leave you breathless, as it is a radical departure from its predecessor in this chapter.

The majority of the redesigned dashboard panel features displays, with a central screen located next to the passenger display, and a smaller one behind the steering wheel for the instrument cluster. The already flashy ambient lighting has become even flashier on the all-new Mercedes GLB, and the panoramic roof on one of the pre-production cars featured a lot of stars on it, as you can see in one of the images shared above.
Full details on the brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLB will be released in less than a month from today, as the model’s unveiling has been scheduled for December 8, 2025. The first deliveries will likely commence early next year.
