Mercedes G-Wagen is one of the most iconic off-roaders out there, and its premium-focused nature and boxy styling makes it even more popular with the usual deep-pocketed crowd that has turned it into a fashion icon these past few years.
 

Pictured here is a 2002 Mercedes-Benz G 500 that is for sale with the excitement of no reserve. It has a black on gray interior, a clean North Carolina title, leather upholstery, heated rear and front seats, a dual-zone climate control, a power-operated sunroof, and wood interior trim. It also sports front, center, and rear locking differentials for more off-roading prowess and quite a few modifications that are certainly tasteful.
 
It rides on 20-inch AMG wheels wrapped in Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, features an aftermarket grille guard, clear side markers, LED taillights, a reversing camera hooked up to the Pioneer head unit, Alpine speakers and subwoofer, and that’s about all. As for the known flaws, these include some rust on the underbody components, wear on the seat bolsters, scuffs on the interior trim, and chips and scratches on the outside. Power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 making 292 horsepower and 336 pound-feet (456 Nm) of torque. It drives all four wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case.
 

How much does the odometer read? That would be 82,400 miles (~ 132,600 km), with the owner, who picked it up early last year and has added some 2,200 miles (~3,500 km) since, saying that it is “a beautifully maintained lower-mileage example” that has been “meticulously serviced with extensive preventative maintenance.” The vehicle is offered with the owner’s manual, some service records, several spare parts, a set of protective floor mats, and one key. The man is selling it because he’s having a baby and needs something “a bit more practical for family life.” We don’t know about you, but a nice G-Wagen sounds extremely practical to us. But hey, to each his own!
 
The 2002 Mercedes-Benz G 500 is worth over $40,000 in today’s market, and given the overall appearance and decent mileage of this example, it would have probably been worth a bit more. However, as mentioned above, the vehicle is offered with the excitement of no reserve. As a result, the highest bidder will take delivery when the gavel hits the table. This ride has attracted a lot of attention, as there were quite a few people watching it. The online auction is underway and will end this Friday (August 8, 2025), and the highest bid at the time of writing was $31,000.
