2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Boasts New Infotainment

Pricier than both direct rivals from the Ford Motor Company and Stellantis, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has entered the 2025 model year with even higher prices. The fossil-fuel range now starts at $50,900 sans the ridiculously high $2,295 destination and delivery charge, whereas the 2024 model starts at $49,900 excluding destination.

On the flip side, Daimler Vans USA made the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter quite a bit more affordable. Instead of the outgoing model’s prohibitively high $71,886 suggested retail price, customers are now presented with a starting price of $61,250 for the most spartan configuration available. Both the fossil-fuel and zero-emission lines will reach dealer showrooms in the US in the second half of 2024.

What else did change, though? From the driver’s perspective, Mercedes worked its magic on the infotainment system. The MBUX touchscreen infotainment system is joined by the so-called Mercedes me connect app, which enables remote lock and unlock. The app also boasts maintenance, breakdown, and accident management.

Daimler Vans USA further gives prospective customers the ability to monitor fleets by means of several authorized telematics providers. The 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system of the eSprinter sweetens the deal with Electric Intelligence for the satellite navigation system.

Another party trick of the MBUX is the Hey Mercedes voice assistant. Obviously enough, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are featured. Keeping the software up to date is now more convenient than ever before thanks to over-the-air updates.

On the safety front, the Stuttgart-based automaker waxes lyrical about the Active Brake Assist intersection function. As implied, this function warns the driver of either oncoming vehicles, vertically crossing vehicles, and overtaking maneuvers, but also intervenes if necessary. Sideguard Assist, the optional Moving-off Information Assist, a new front camera for the Active Lane Keeping function, and an optional digital rearview mirror also need to be mentioned.

The list continues with the Parking Package (includes a 360-degree camera system), Traffic Sign Assist, and Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC. Oh, and by the way, both the combustion-engined and full-electric lines feature capacitive sensors in the revised steering wheel.

If you’re curious how Daimler Vans USA managed to shave $10,636 off the starting price of the eSprinter, the answer is a new battery. Instead of the 2024 model’s 113 kilowatt hours, the 2025 model comes with an 81-kWh unit as standard. The 113-kWh battery is, therefore, optional for MY2025.

The eSprinter has also been treated to a 144-inch wheelbase option and a standard-roof option as opposed to the 2024 model’s standard 170-inch wheelbase and high roof. Giving prospective customers more choices is one thing, but remember that a smaller battery also means worse driving range. Mercedes claims a WLTP-rated 329 kilometers (204 miles) for the lesser battery and 478 kilometers (297 miles) for the 113-kWh pack.
