The exceptional Racing Green line is yet another special edition by Carlex Design, based on the iconic Mercedes G 63 AMG. The Racing Green is a stylish fusion of a sporty character, luxury, and handcraft. The car’s body is a piece of functional art: it has been painted deep emerald green, inspired by British racing green, and hand brushed by our experts, using a unique finishing method. The Racing Green Edition features a carbon roof and spare wheel cover, massive 24-inch rims, painted dark grey with golden flecks, and a number of bespoke emblems. The subtle side stickers and the golden brown brake callipers perfectly mark the green car’s body and reveal a bit of what is going on inside of this special edition vehicle.

After releasing a beach-ready G-Wagen last week that looked like it belonged in the window of a candy shop, Carlex Design is back with yet another project. This one also builds on the Mercedes-AMG G 63, yet it is a more serious proposal that would feel right at home bashing dunes in the Middle East or quietly sitting in front of an exquisite restaurant on the French Riviera.

To be honest, the model does help with that, as it is one highly versatile machine. It’s one of the very few rides today that can attack the great outdoors with proper tires on its feet and then drive to dinner at a fancy restaurant, subsequent to being washed. Guess this, combined with the timeless looks, makes the Mercedes G-Wagen an incredibly popular model and favorite of most tuning houses, including Carlex Design.

The Polish tuner, which invited us to its headquarters earlier this year, revealing some inside secrets and presenting that bespoke G-Falcon, has a lot of experience tuning the G-Class. It has signed multiple copies over the years, mostly leaving its mark on the cockpit with all kinds of unique and high-end touches. And their latest project follows this recipe, albeit the build also gets a reworked exterior and some other bits and bobs that suit the styling very well. In fact, it is so good-looking that other tuners (ahem, Mansory!) could learn a thing or two about it.

One thing that makes this Mercedes-AMG G 63 immediately stand out is the bespoke paint finish. Inspired by the iconic British Racing Green, the hand-brushed hue was applied at Carlex’s headquarters by its craftspeople using a unique finishing method. And if it looks familiar, it is because other vehicles that Carlex has signed over the years wear it, too, including that Land Rover Defender that we wrote about nearly four years ago.

Besides the exquisite paint, this 4×4 also boasts a new body kit. Carlex Design has given it new front and rear bumpers, grille, and fender flares. The company’s name decorates the hood, and the new grille, which manages to stay true to the Panamericana OEM offering, features a large Carlex Design logo in the middle. Carlex Racing decals decorate the lower parts of the doors. The tuner also gave it a custom spare wheel holder and a carbon fiber roof for sportier vibes and fitted it with its typical wheels that also equip the bespoke G-Falcon.

Opening the door will reveal a completely reupholstered cockpit. Carlex played around with the stock seats, hence their new racy look, and gave the entire interior high-end brown leather upholstery with decorative stitching. This material was wrapped around the steering wheel, center console, dashboard, seats, door cards, and so on, and new carbon trim joins it. Carlex Design takes great pride in its interiors, as it is one of their biggest selling points, and you can bet that the build quality often exceeds the OEM one. And this being a modern-day Mercedes, it wasn’t hard to do that.

But what about the firepower? Well, this tuner isn’t known for boosting the oomph, and it doesn’t intend to step into this game anytime soon. Thus, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 pictured here likely retains its stock V8 – unless another tuner has worked its magic on it, that is. So, what does this mean? 627 pound-foot (850 Nm) of torque and 577 horsepower (585 ps/430 kW). This is how much the stock bi-turbo 4.0L V8 produces in this model, allowing it to reach sixty mph (97 kph) in four and a half seconds. That’s certainly impressive for a vehicle that weighs as much as a small shed and has a (gorgeous) brick-like design.

You are probably wondering about how much the Carlex Design Racing Green Edition costs. And we are, too. However, the company hasn’t released the pricing, and that probably means that it is not for sale. If we were to guess, we’d say it was a special commission, and since the work that went into it is extensive, the tuner decided to present it. For what it’s worth, Carlex doesn’t do this with every car it modifies, but then again, no famous tuner does that.

We reckon the owner invested a six-digit sum in the modifications, or close to it, anyway, and it is one appealing project. We dig the impressive paint, the extra muscles courtesy of the new body kit, and that classy interior that looks like a comfortable high-end lodge. Carlex surely knows how to tune cars, and this G-Wagen is another proof that this tuner is heading in the right direction. Good job, guys, for another well-done project.

Now, before wrapping it up and moving on to the next story, do you also like the Carlex Design Racing Green Edition Mercedes-AMG G 63 as much as we do?
