Mercedes-Benz has announced the prices for the new Mercedes CLA mild hybrid. Three versions are available, two of which can be ordered with all-wheel drive. Prices range from 46,243 euros to 54,228 euros.

In addition to the electric version we recently tested, the Mercedes CLA is also available with a second-generation 48V mild hybrid powertrain, where the electric motor is not driven by a belt but is integrated into the new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As a result, the power from the combustion engine combines with that of the electric motor.

Generally, in a 48V mild hybrid system, the electric motor does not propel the car by itself, but in this case, it’s a powerful mild hybrid system, where the 22 kW (30 hp) electric motor can propel the car for a short time as long as more than 22 kW of power is not required.

Additionally, the Mercedes CLA MHEV can travel in so-called electric sailing mode up to speeds of 100 km/h.

Energy recovery works in all eight gears of the new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (8F-eDCT), and the Mercedes CLA can recover up to 25 kW.

The combustion engine can also be started solely by the electric motor and the disconnect clutch, eliminating the need for a conventional pinion starter.

Unlike other models with mild hybrid technology, the Mercedes CLA MHEV has a larger 1.3 kWh Li-Ion battery, which has a capacity similar to that of a full-hybrid model.

The new four-cylinder FAME (Family of Modular Engines) engine, codenamed M252, is developed by Mercedes and produced together with Geely in China. With a displacement of 1.5 liters, it operates on the Miller cycle, which differs from normal cycles by the relatively early closing of the intake valves, which reduces throttling losses and allows a high compression ratio of 12:1. Additionally, it features a Nanoslide coating on the cylinder liners, a cylinder head with a partially integrated exhaust manifold, and a turbocharger with a segmented turbine and a switchable scroll connection.

With the exhaust system mounted close to the engine, the new M252 engine complies with the upcoming Euro 7 emission standards, which come into effect in 2026.

The Mercedes CLA is available in three engine versions, two of which are available with all-wheel drive:
– CLA 180 with 136 PS and 200 Nm, and a 30 PS, 200 Nm electric motor. Total power and combined propulsion system: 156 PS and 280 Nm. Price: 46,243 euros
– CLA 200 / CLA 200 4MATIC with 163 PS and 250 Nm, and a 30 PS, 200 Nm electric motor. Total power and combined propulsion system: 184 PS and 330 Nm. Price: 48,956/51,158 euros
– CLA 220 / CLA 220 4MATIC with 190 PS and 300 Nm, and a 30 PS, 200 Nm electric motor. Total power and combined propulsion system: 211 PS and 380 Nm. Price 52,026/54,228 euros

Improved Standard Equipment
Like the Mercedes CLA EQ, the Mercedes CLA mild hybrid comes with a rich standard equipment list. The panoramic sunroof is standard, as well as 10.25-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch display for the multimedia system. The standard equipment also includes LED High Performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, automatic Thermatic climate control, a multifunction steering wheel wrapped in leather, the MBUX navigation system, and the USC package with four USB-C ports.

Three packages can be configured: Advanced Plus (1,469.65 euros), Premium with Digital Extras (3,230.85 euros), and Premium Plus with Digital Extras (5,432.35 euros).

Additionally, options include AMG Line, AMG Line Plus, and Night packages.

The AMG Line comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, an AMG front bumper, a sports leather steering wheel with a flattened rim, red contrast stitching in the door panels, sport seats in black Artico/Microcut, and AMG sport pedals in brushed stainless steel with black rubber studs.

The AMG Line Plus includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a high-gloss black spoiler lip, Manufaktur seat belts in red, and the Night Package.
