Some cars don’t follow trends – they shape expectations. In the 140th anniversary year of Carl Benz’s patent, the new S-Class continues this legacy with the most extensive evolution in the history of the S-Class. In this exclusive preview, Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius shares first insights into the upcoming S-Class, joined by Justin Tse – with a special video call from Roger Federer. Together, they offer a sneak look at how the world’s finest saloon elevates design, technology, and personalisation. From its bolder presence with the upright star on the hood, to next level digital intelligence powered by MB.OS, and expanded MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure personalisation options – every detail advances what the S-Class stands for: innovation, craftsmanship, and that unmistakable feeling of “Welcome home.”

The new S-Class: Exclusive first look with CEO Ola Källenius

Mercedes has released a short film in which Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, gives a few details about the design, suspension, and autonomous driving of the Mercedes S-Class facelift, without revealing the dashboard. The film also features superstar Roger Federer.

Mercedes has presented the first official tehnical details about the new S-Class, which we have already shown you here.

One week before the world premiere, in a short video, Ola Källenius announced new details about the design, the intelligent suspension, Level 4 autonomous driving, the new operating system, and customization options.

“When we do a new model, we really look at everything. This is the biggest refresh that we have ever done in the history of the S-Class. More than 2,700 pieces have been either completely exchanged or refined. More than 50% of the vehicle — that is incredible.”

Källenius says that the entire grille has a new, status-oriented, prestige look, paired with precise and intelligent new headlights.

At the front, the headlights feature a light signature that mimics the Mercedes logo, just like on the E-Class. At the rear, the taillights are also new.

The interior is completely new as well, and Källenius talks about taking “understated luxury to the next level.” Normally, in a car the most important place is the driver’s seat. But for the S-Class, Källenius makes an exception and says that the best seat is in the rear.

A surprise guest also appears in the presentation clip: Roger Federer, who is traveling in the rear seat and is delighted with the level of comfort and the low noise level.

Then Källenius himself gets into the rear seat for a short ride, but at no point in the filmed clip is the dashboard shown; it will only be revealed at the official presentation on January 29.

Källenius highlights the new intelligent air suspension:
“If you drive over a bump here, the car sends that information to the cloud and shares it with the other cars. So, if you were riding behind in the S-Class, the suspension adapts to it before you get to it.”

Källenius then talks about the Manufaktur customization options and says that, in addition to the colors in the catalog, you can have any color you want. The head of Mercedes confirms that the S-Class facelift will benefit from the new MB.OS operating system.

Finally, Källenius announces for the first time that the S-Class facelift is prepared for Level 4 autonomous driving, and that Mercedes is already carrying out pilot tests for Level 4.
