Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe For Half Its MSRP

Do you think Mercedes always planned on making a four-door variant of the AMG GT back when the latter was still being designed? Careful now, because that’s a loaded question. I think it’s time we clarified a few things regarding this super sedan, which is technically a 5-door liftback, by the way.

Just because this vehicle is marketed as a four-door Mercedes-AMG GT, that doesn’t mean it’s closely related to its two-door Coupe sibling. The two aren’t related at all, actually. Despite the similar name and certain styling traits, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is basically a W213 E-Class underneath, riding on the carmaker’s MRA platform, also like the latest-generation CLS.

I think that if Mercedes could go back in time and choose a different name for this four-door model, they would do it. This is its own car, and while I understand why you’d want to use Mercedes-AMG in the nomenclature, the GT part is unnecessary, as is the 4-Door Coupe. They literally had to put the description of the vehicle in the official name.

Anyway, whatever you want to call it, this is a seriously cool car. It looks great, it drives great, it’s supremely well-built and if you opt for a 4 or 5-year-old model with decent mileage, you should be able to land it for very little money compared to what it cost initially.

Case in point, this 2020 example finished in Designo Selenite Grey Magno. It’s got a killer spec to go with 28,000 miles on the clock, which is reasonable for a car you’re probably going to drive every day and enjoy the hell out of it. Care to know how much this cost? Its original MSRP was $163,055. Meanwhile, its new owner just bought it for $83,859. Pretty much half that sticker price.

That’s what I call incredible value. This is not a particularly old car, and when you factor in the specification, 50% off MSRP is pretty darn awesome.

Aside from the cool color scheme, this AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe also comes with a glass sunroof, hands-free power liftgate, LED taillights, tinted windows, quad exhausts, a multi-stage rear spoiler, and black-finished 20” multi-spoke AMG wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and red multi-piston calipers.

The interior is equally spectacular, featuring Macchiato Beige Exclusive Style Nappa leather (that’s a mouthful) with quilted stitching, heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable seats, Magma Grey Exclusive Style Nappa leather for the upper dashboard and door panels, gloss carbon-fiber trim, an AMG Performance steering wheel, head-up display, a Designo Macchiato Beige dinamica headliner, 64-color ambient lighting, illuminated door sills, and a Burmester surround sound system, among other goodies.

You even get the Executive Rear Seat Package, which adds heated and cooled cup holders and a rear touchscreen display.

As for the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 residing underneath the hood, it’s got 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, with everything going to all four corners via a nine-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission and the carmaker’s 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.
